NAIROBI TO MT. KENYA BANDAS
Drive: 3.5 hours. Hike: 10km
Nairobi (1,795m) to Mt. Kenya Bandas (2,900m)
Collection from your hotel in Nairobi at 8:00am. We will drive through agricultural country up to Chogoria town for lunch. After lunch we'll take a 4x4 and drive up to the edge of the forest where we start the trek though dense bamboo to the camp at Mt Kenya Bandas (2,900m). We overnight here.
MT. KENYA BANDAS TO LAKE ELLIS
Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Hike 10 km (4 hours)
Mt. Kenya Bandas (2,900m) to Lake Ellis (3,600m)
After breakfast we set off up the mountain at a nice and easy pace. A slightly longer walk via Lake Ellis gives scenic mountain views of Mugi, Ithanguni and the Giants Billiards Table. We will stop for lunch on the banks of a stream, before continuing up the hillside to our camp at about 3,600m.
LAKE ELLIS TO MINTOS CAMP
Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Hike 10 km (4 hours)
Lake Ellis (3,600m) to Mintos Camp (4,200m)
After an early wake-up call and hearty breakfast we begin hiking on an off-the-beaten path up the mountain for about 3 hours until we join the tourist track on the normal Chogoria route. The air will feel a little thinner now as we are at an altitude of about 4,100m. From this vantage point you will get breath-taking views over the Gorges Valley and back over towards Ithanguni and the Northern Moorlands. Lunch is served at a small stream crossing, before continuing for a further hour to the Mintos Hut area at 4,200m, where we will sleep for the night.
Please note: we will spend the afternoon relaxing at the camp, though a 10 minute walk to the "Temple" is well worth the effort. This is a 150m vertical cliff that gets its name from the position visitors often adopt when peering over the edge - they look as if they are praying.
An early night is recommended as we will be attempting the summit next day.
MINTOS CAMP TO POINT LENANA (SUMMIT) TO OLD MOSES CAMP
Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Hike 24 km (11-12 hours)
Mintos Camp (4,200m) to Point Lenana (4,985m) to Old Moses Camp (3,300m)
Our pre-dawn attempt of the summit starts at 3:00am, where we hike for about three hours up to Point Lenana (4985m), the hiker's summit. We should arrive in time to watch the African sunrise. After spending some time at the summit we will descend to Shipton camp for breakfast. After breakfast, we will begin a 5 hour descent via Mackinder's valley to the Old Moses Camp (3,300m). The descent is gentle and it offers ample time to enjoy fascinating scenery which includes the stunning moorlands before reaching the camp. Dinner and overnight at Old Moses camp.
OLD MOSES CAMP TO NAIROBI
Hike 9 km (2 hours), Drive: 3.5 hours.
Old Moses Camp (3,300m) to Nairobi (1,795m)
After an early morning breakfast we will descend for 3 hours to the Sirimon Park gate. From here we will be collected by vehicle and transferred back to Nairobi, arriving by 17:00.

We loved it!
I went with my family to visit Everest basecamp. I cannot thank Himalaya Leisure enough for this! Truly something you have to experience for yourself!
Every person on the planet has to experience this for themselves, It’s honestly one of the most breath taking experiences you will ever have. I honestly trekked many places but this was among my top 20 treks. I highly recommend them! You can also check out my blog at: https://outsideorigin.com
I loved it, really cool experience
Best Adventure Yet
Thanks Mountain IQ and Altezza for arranging our climb. It is by far the best adventure holiday I have ever experienced, the toughest too! Our guides and the entire support were truly amazing – I don’t think I would have made it without their support and encouragement! Thanks again!
Tip top trekking experience
Visiting the Annapurna Sanctuary has been one of the highlights of my life. I was very nervous joining this trek as I was a solo female and had never trekked at altitude. The team at Mountain IQ were fantastic at answering all my questions and putting my concerns to rest. Once in Nepal, Upendra and the Himalayan Leisure team were just amazing. Our guide, Dorchi, was an absolute hoot and very caring. The whole experience from beginning to end was awesome. Thanks again!
We joined this trek with short notice. Upendra was very responsive and accommodating to our needs. The tour from pick up to drop off was professional and fun. Would highly recommend joining this tour!
An once in a lifetime experience!
This was by far the most amazing adventure we’ve ever had. We can’t thank the team at Himalayan Leisure and at Mountain IQ enough for arranging such an incredible trek for myself and my girlfriend. From the very get go, the support from Mountain IQ and Upendra was top notch. All our questions were answered quickly and in detail. Once we arrived in Kathmandu we were warmly welcomed. The pre-trek briefing was excellent and we immediately liked our guide Dawa, and felt confident putting our safety in his hands. The trek itself is truly amazing – the views throughout were spectacular. The high pass was a big challenge but the whole group managed it without too much strain. We can’t wait to return to Nepal to complete the EBC trek via Gokyo and will definitely be going with HL again!
Epic experience with Dawa and his team
Just a quick note to say thank you to Himalayan Leisure for an amazing trekking experience to EBC. We felt well looked after throughout and really enjoyed the company of our guide Dawa. I highly recommend booking this adventure!
A superb trekking experience
We had an absolutely amazing experience with Himalayan Leisure on this trek in the Langtang region. The Langtang is a lot quieter than the popular trails to Everest. If you are looking to get off the beaten path then I highly recommend this trek and HL!
This tour company is excellent. From the time they met us at Cusco airport, their interaction with us was first class. They were able to accommodate the tour changes we requested. Our guide, Percy, was excellent, very knowledgeable and took the time to explain and answer questions. I highly recommend Inkayni. I would advise anyone who wants to see Cusco and Choquequirao to select this tour company.
